Lesson Learnt =/

This is Chow here…

Supper tonight was an epic FAIL (with a capital PH)!!! Here’s a tip to all those who ever attempt cooking- Never cook when you are not in the mood. You WILL end up savaging every morsel of non-burnt food. ‘Nuff said. Perhaps the whole episode occurred because I was making a chicken dish.

Chicken’s Two-Cents Worth:

How now, brown Chow…. Two years eating Fedics fowl, andyou still voluntarily cook chicken? Madness. But I’m still coming over for supper.

Greetings…

We’re back-baaaack!!!! (in pure chicken style). We hope you have been surviving the measly portions, the extra fries and chicken with your oil and the over-all ambience of the DH.

Lucky for me, the greener pastures is all what it is promised to be! This means that you no longer having to schedule your entire day around meal times, you get to choose the healthier alternative (or not!) and you get to gobble more than eight slices of bread per meal time. Aaah the joys….

Don’t get me wrong, though, enjoying your meal in solitary confinement can be quite rough at times too!! Especially if you’re used to the cheerful bustle of the DH. Then there are those days when UCT ploughs you in the deep end of the water trough and you end up dismally searching every nook and cranny for anything that resembles cooked food. K, not THAT drastic- there’s still 2-minute noodles that comes to the rescue! 

On a more serious note, we’re setting up some major improvements to the blog. This includes publishing some easy-to-make breakfasts, lunches and suppers for those who are challenged at the fine art of cuisine or for those who are simply overwhelmed by work and other such things of importance. Please let us know what you think? And we’re open to suggestions:)

And you thought they’d disappeared forever…

Chow and Chicken have been MIA for a long time. Nay. A freaking long time. We blame this on global warming, the recession, bad coffee, oversleeping, political struggles, wet socks, bad hair days, cold option and second/third year. Our bad =)

Nevertheless, this blog will once again be rising from the ashes like a burnt piece of Fedics toast and continuing the quirky legend that is Chow and Chicken. So tell a friend, tell your dining hall monitors, tell that serving lady with a trace of a moustache… We’re back!!

But, as we wrote a while ago, Chow and Chicken’s blog is like a good soapie. No matter how many episodes you miss, you can invariably pick up right where you left off!

A couple of new developments that you may have missed though –

No longer will we be writing about Royal Sechaba! For the younger readers (first years – bless their innocent souls!), this was the previous catering company who delighted our palates. We’re pretty stoked about Fedics though – it’s a heck of a lot quicker to type, and doesn’t send spell-check into red-squiggle-line-hysterics on our blog!

Also, Chow and Chicken are no longer under the same roof (*tear). One of us has gone to greener pastures (and greener vegetables) by escaping out of res into a one-man/girl/animal digs. Well-played, Chow… well-played.

Chicken, on the other hand is still taking one for the team by staying in res. The madness continues through work, rain and chicken liver… Two and a half years later!

Let’s get this show on the road! (Wait… will the Chicken have to cross the road then?)
