It’s July 22, and in cold, misty Cape Town, that means that the UCT Vac is over. Sigh. But, never fear, Chow and Chicken are once again back in res and ready to keep you smiling!
We hope you all had an awesome break – we know we did. Awesome friends, fun… and homecooked food. We miss you already, Mommy Moo!
Here’s to a moo-gnificient second semester. See you around

Contrary to popular belief, Chow and Chicken have not been poisoned. We are alive and kicking. And writing exams. Much as though we’d desperately love to update you on
every meal, certain other things must be done. Sigh.
But, the good thing about exams is Study Snacks. Munchies!!! We count down the hours until 21h00, then raceto go and collect them. Yes, we understand that this state of excitement is rather sad, but honestly, let’s face it – who doesn’t look forward to that choclate brownie?
We are getting all eggnological here and have put pictures of the snacks up… Must say, you are rather photogenic, dear Munchies. Then I eat you.

Chow and Chicken’s blog is like a good soapie. No matter how many episodes you miss, you can invariably pick up right where you left off…
Let’s just recap what we’ve missed:
1) Chicken was in mourning about Chelsea’s loss. Sigh. It was terry terry sad.
2) In case you hadn’t noticed, exams are right around the corner
3) Study snacks started, and boy, are they awesome! Hehe we thought we’d be lucky enough to have hem over weekends as well! Or not. Sechaba did package them rather nicely though. Cute touch!
4) We missed Africa day. Didn’t notice any special change in the meals though.
5) And Sunday breakfast isn’t usually much different hey
Note to all Sechabees: Choose fish at your next meal. It’s good for the brain.

The title says it all. There is tension in the room as Chow and Chicken eyeball each other warily, slowly stalking out the opposition. Wearing blue or red today goes unmentioned… Tonight it’s showdown!!
Sechaba can take backseat today, the Duo has decided. It could be a good day for most (Hopefuly pizza for supper?), and an even better day for some (Namely Chelsea supporters…).
And it’s the last day of the first semester. Not even the pouring rain could deter Chicken from doing a little hop and skip on the way to the dining hall when thinking about this beautiful fact…
Here’s to the soccer… Have a great day!
PS – Oh yes, about breakfast. Still not stoked by the fish fingers. Maybe we’re just spoilt?

Will Moo make it to breakfast in time this morning? As we speak, there is a frantic dash to get everything ready by 08h00. But will the promise of flapjacks lure Super-Moo to the dining hall, despite the clock ticking away? We wait in suspense…

“Spartans! Ready your breakfast and eat hearty, FOR TONIGHT, WE DINE IN HELL!!!” (King Leonidas in the movie ‘300′)
Chow and Chicken has offically hit the 300 mark of hits. We are honestly blown away. And we just thought that this quote would be fitting…

Early morning starts are miserable in this weather. Early Monday mornings are even worse! But, Chow and Chicken had places to be and venturing out was unavoidable.
Chicken took a detour via the dining hall to get some feed. The hot options didn’t really jump out at me (it would be scary if they did). And also, is it immoral for chickens eat to eggs? Thus, it was porridge to warm me up from the feathers inward!
After spotting some strange green object in a fellow-eater’s eggs, I figured it was probably for the best!
Porridge, yoghurt, and a meal voucher. That’s what I ate today. Oh, no, wait. I didn’t eat the meal voucher. Not sucha fan of those types of greens hey!
It was an early start for C & C this morning.

With MooCow feeling a bit under the weather this morning (literally and figuratively), Chicken dashed off to breakfast to collect our daily rations!
Sunday breakfasts are normally pretty good – if you like runny eggs and raw tomato! Most things can be improved with a decent slice of toast, but that means wrestling with the infamous toasters. And probably burning your toast despite all that!
We think there will be a run on hot food today. Chicken even spotted someone with a steaming bowl of FrootLoops – you know who you are!

And the Mooo makes their first comment on the site!! Thanx for the warm welcome, viewers… please feel free to make a comment on the site and express your love/ “dislike” of ours truly, Sechaba food…
To be honest, I haven’t eaten Sechaba food in a while, the last being when I took the cold option – and didn’t end up eating that either due to it being distasteful to say the least… (damn that cheese is rubbery!).
As for this whole new look that Sechaba has going for themselves- which is purely for the tender- it’s ok huh? Except that the skewness of the tables kinda makes the dining hall look untidy- not nice at all!! must say that the flowers add a homely touch however…
Anyway, I’ve gotta run…Economics is calling out to me!! See you at supper, peeps!!
Super-moo =)

There was a UFO in the dining hall this morning – an Unidentified Fried Object! The Sechaba scientists claim that it was ‘Bacon Bits’, but to Chicken it looked more like, well, um, I’m not actually sure what it could be classified as! It was a borderline bacon fritter I guess. Maybe…
And there was a landmark this morning – it was the first time that I, Chicken, had scrambled eggs! Things have changed It must have been a while since I last had them, because now they serve them cold. Tut tut, how things change over time!

Alas, a poor start to the blog! Tonight’s menu was a little scary… Let’s just say that cold options ran out pretty quickly! I (thankfully) did not subject myself to the plate of oily chicken casserole! They say that the wise learn from the mistakes of other. Touche!
Some days it’s worth it to be a vegetarian. Chicken thinks that everyone should always be – spare us from being eaten!!! it may have been spinach on baked potato. But, we stress the golden rule: Never, ever question the origins of your food!
Tonight also marked the return of what we think was yesterday’s salad. Report it to the tabloids: Anyone got photos of what it was doing last night? I rate this tomato was still hungover this evening- eeugh. But shame, lettuce leave him alone (’scuse the pun).. It’s not often that it looks that bad!
So what did we eat tonight? Cold option all the way! Random thought for the night: Does it still count as cold option after you’ve toasted it?
Til breakfast… Chicken
